Deep River Author Tanya Unkovich Becomes New Host of New Zealand's Hour of Power
On the final day of his life when Philip Morrow was told that he only had days to live, he turned to his wife and said, “Don't forget to bring in my journal tomorrow Tarn as this will be good for my book.” He did not get to tell the story of his Unplanned Journey, so Tanya did. Writing this book for him became one of her dreams and in fulfilling this dream Tanya Unkovich has discovered her true love of writing and purpose in life.
Early in 2009 VMI publishers assisted Tanya in moving towards this dream and published her books Unplanned Journey-A Triumph in Life and Death and Unplanned Journey-The Workbook Companion. Tanya says, “In spite of my sorrow, deep in my heart I knew that God had a far greater plan for me thus I clung to the words from Jeremiah 29:11-12, “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray I will listen.”
Tanya continued to build on her hopes and dreams for her life. She said, “Often I would visualize my book and how good it would feel when I held the finished product in my hand. I could see myself speaking at events and saw myself on television. I let go of the ‘how’ and allowed myself to quietly feel my dream, believing it was possible.”
Tanya’s dream came into fruition when she was invited to be a guest on The Hour of Power at the Crystal Cathedral being interviewed by her mentor Dr. Robert Schuller. “The excitement leading up to this visit was magnificent and I made sure I felt every moment of the joy which was inside me,” she shared. The program aired in USA October 11, 2009. The dream did not stop there. Tanya has now been appointed as the New Zealand representative and presenter for the Hour of Power and will have weekly appearances on the show.
The message that Tanya continues to convey in her work and her writing is one of hope. Tanya closes by saying “My greatest sorrow in life has become the most transforming event in my life and has allowed me to rediscover who I am and live my dreams. During my dark nights I completely surrendered to God and said, “Your will be done with my life now”. All I had to do was to trust Him, and as Psalm 30:5 promised me, “weeping may go on all night, but in the morning there is joy.”
