Twenty-one Authors Attend ICRS (International Christian Retail Show) in Atlanta
Deep River Books left a lasting impression at the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) in Atlanta in July. Twenty-one DRB authors from the United States and Canada attended the show, signing over 2,000 books during the three-day event. The CBA said that attendance was up this year from last, an event that draws over 15,000 store owners, buyers, and industry professionals from around the world.

For the attending Deep River Books authors, the event kicked off Sunday evening with a dinner at the Westin Peachtree Plaza downtown Atlanta. Opened in prayer by veteran DRB author Michael J. Bozack, PhD. (Street Smart Advice to Christian College Students), the guests enjoyed getting to know their family of DRB authors as well as meeting publishers Bill and Nancie Carmichael and Rhonda Funk who is in charge of Marketing and Publicity. Heidi McLaughlin (two time DRB author Beauty Unleashed, and Sand to Pearls), closed the event with an impromptu message to the authors saying, “No other publisher loves on you the way the Deep River Books does.”

On Monday July 11, Randy Butler (Reclaiming Heaven's Covenant), Jayne Pearson Faulkner (The Place of Belonging), Heidi McLaughlin (Sand to Pearls), and Gerald Mittmann (Smoothie Rock-A-Teller) made the headlines of the show newspaper as featured guests at the Heart of the Author Luncheon. Each visited with retailers at their table, and were given an opportunity to speak to over 200 store owners sharing their heart behind the book; why they wrote it and why the store owners should put the book on their shelves. All in all, the retailers left with copies of each book and information to assist them in finding books that best fit their customers' specific needs. The event was hosted by Brandilyn Collins (author of Over the Edge) and included authors Tricia Goyer, June Hunt, and others.

Gerald Mittmann, author of Smoothie Rock-A-Teller on the Whopper Stopper, took the show by storm with his new children's book series that teaches Bible stories from a new perspective-from the eyes of the rocks who saw it all. Featured in the Wednesday edition of the Show Daily, Mittmann won a CBA Impact award for The Best Booth, Bibles. That morning retailers lined up for nearly an hour and a half to get their signed copy of Mittmann's new release.
