Introduction

Welcome!
We are glad you are evaluating Deep River as a place to submit your manuscript for publishing consideration. The Deep River Partner Publishing Program is designed to mentor new and/or relatively unknown authors and help them succeed. If your manuscript is approved by our editorial review team, we will do everything in our power to help you make your book the best it can be. Read the next several pages to glean a good understanding of how the Partnership Program works.

It starts with a talented author

Good books start with a manuscript that has excellent content and a crisp, clear writing style. We will give you honest feedback on whether we think your book has what it takes to be published. Often, as authors, we get so consumed with our manuscript that we fail to view it objectively. A top-notch manuscript still needs a top-notch editor to make it really good. Our editorial team is one of the best.

Award-winning cover designs

Many books go unread because the reader was never enticed to pick up the book. A compelling cover is essential to success. Have you ever heard the old saying: "Never judge a book by its cover"? That may be true when referring to people, but in publishing, the saying goes: "Books are only as good as their covers." We use award-winning freelance cover designers specifically selected for the unique message of each book. Our cover designers are required to read the manuscript before they begin the design so that each cover has the right feel for the message contained inside.
Meet our design team.

Powerful distribution

Even the best books need proper marketing and sales. Without someone marketing and selling your book, it will never get the distribution it needs. We work with full-time "boots on the ground" sales people who make face-to-face presentations of our titles to book buyers who buy product for over 2,000 retail stores. We also work with a top-notch PR team to help get author exposure in the media. Meet our marketing team and our sales team.

"What Else Should I Know?"

You should know the people you are working with. They should be people with publishing experience. People with integrity. The people you work with must have the contacts and background to make your book succeed ... people who understand you as an author. See the Endorsements from our Deep River Authors.

Author Michael J. Insalaco

Most unpublished writers do not get the kind of consideration they deserve from book publishers, simply because most publishers are flooded with thousands of book proposals and unsolicited manuscripts. Because of the significant risk/reward of the industry, the publishers often play it safe and opt to go with proven writers. They simply don't want to (or can't) take the risk on new writers.

As a result, some new authors get caught up in "vanity” or “self publishing." Such companies may help you "print" your book, but offer nothing in the way of editing, creative design, or marketing and distribution. When an author decides to self-publish in this manner, they often come away with a poorly designed, poorly edited book with no distribution plan. They are left to sell what they can to those in their own sphere of influence and the rest of their books gather dust in their garage. Click Here to read the seven ways Deep River Books Partnership Program is different from self publishing.
