What is Partner Publishing?
Partner publishing, as offered by Deep River Books, is substantially different from “self-publishing” and also a unique approach to “traditional” publishing. Bill and Nancie Carmichael, founders and owners of Deep River books and having over 35 years of publishing experience, are pioneers in developing this unique niche in publishing that provides a full-service publishing experience to authors under a partnership arrangement.
Basically, if your manuscript is selected by the Deep River editorial review team, it means that you will enjoy the full-service benefits of a publishing relationship that includes not only editing, cover design, typesetting and printing, but sales, marketing, distribution and royalty payments for retail sales as well…. just as a traditional publisher would do. The difference is that in the partnership, we ask you to share the risk by purchasing a minimum number of copies with the initial print run. That’s it!

This purchase of copies is the only obligation you will be asked to make. No hidden fees, no add-on charges. While you will have the option to do more in the marketing of your book (such as developing a Web site, opening a Facebook account, blogging, speaking), there are no other mandatory fees required….only the purchase of the minimum number of books.
By doing this, you are helping to share the risk, since the purchase of these copies does two things. First, it helps pay for the up-front costs that are required to successfully launch a new title, and second, it assures that you, as the author, will be involved in the process of initial marketing by selling and/or distributing your copies into your sphere of influence, thereby helping to “prime the pump” in gathering interest among potential readers when the book is launched. And by purchasing your copies at discount, you will not only be able to sell them to recoup your entire investment, you can also make a profit of 30% or more, depending on the quantity you order.
The Deep River Partnership is based on providing you with all of the help you need to get your book published by a professional publishing company AND get your book distributed. If your book is selected to be published by Deep River Books, you'll be able to see your book in retail bookstores as well as purchase copies at substantial author discounts off the retail price. You will also glean royalties for all retail bookstore sales. And as a partner in the process, you will have full input on cover design and all other aspects of creating the book.
